Privacy policy
Avenea Wellness ("Avenea," "we," "our," "us") knows that shopping for intimate wellness products is personal. Protecting your privacy isn't a compliance checkbox for us — it's core to why customers trust us with this part of their lives. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
This policy is written to comply with Canada's *Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act* (PIPEDA), Quebec's *Act to Modernize Legislative Provisions as Regards the Protection of Personal Information* (Law 25), and *Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation* (CASL).
1. Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to anyone who visits aveneawellness.com, creates an account, places an order, or contacts our customer care team.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly:
-
Name, billing and shipping address, email, phone number
-
Order details and purchase history
-
Anything you share with customer support (e.g., a product question or a complaint)
-
Account login details, if you create one
Information collected automatically:
-
IP address, browser type, device type, operating system
-
Pages viewed, time on site, referring pages
-
Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)
Payment information: Card and payment details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor and Shopify Payments. Avenea does not receive or store your complete card number, CVV, or banking credentials.
We treat purchase history and browsing data in this category as sensitive by nature, even though it isn't a special legal category under Canadian law, and we apply the same discretion to how we store and discuss it internally as we do to your shipping label.
3. Why We Collect It
We use your information to:
-
Process, ship, and fulfill your orders
-
Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
-
Send transactional communications (order confirmations, shipping updates, warranty/return correspondence)
-
Send marketing communications — only where you've given consent under CASL (see Section 6)
-
Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud or misuse of our site
-
Improve our website, products, and customer experience
-
Meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations
4. Who We Share It With
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We share information only with service providers who need it to do their job, and only to the extent necessary:

Because some of these providers operate outside Canada (e.g., cloud servers located in the United States), your information may be stored or processed outside the country. Where that happens, it remains subject to the privacy commitments in this policy, though it may also be accessible to foreign authorities under the laws of that jurisdiction.
Order and billing discretion: Shipping labels never display product names or descriptions. Card statement descriptors are set to show a neutral, non-descriptive business name rather than product or category terms.
5. Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, keep your cart working, measure site traffic, and — where you haven't opted out — personalize ads on other platforms. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time; some site features (like checkout) may not work properly without them.
6. Email Marketing (CASL)
We only send marketing emails to people who have given express or implied consent, as required under CASL. We do not currently offer SMS/text marketing. Every marketing email includes:
-
Clear identification of Avenea Wellness as the sender
-
A working unsubscribe link, honoured within 10 business days
You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email or by contacting us directly.
7. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed to fulfill the purposes above — typically the duration of the customer relationship plus the period required for tax, accounting, and legal record-keeping (generally up to 7 years for financial records under Canadian requirements). After that, it's securely deleted or anonymized.
8. Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and administrative safeguards (encrypted checkout, restricted internal access, secure hosting) to protect your information. No online transmission or storage system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — but we take this seriously given the personal nature of what we sell.
In the event of a data breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.
9. Age Restriction
Our products and website are intended only for individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Under PIPEDA and, for Quebec residents, Law 25, you have the right to:
-
Know what personal information we hold about you and why
-
Access and request a copy of your personal information
-
Correct inaccurate or outdated information
-
Withdraw consent to the use of your information (subject to legal or contractual limits)
-
Request deletion of your information, where applicable
-
File a complaint with us, and if unresolved, with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, for Quebec residents, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision. Material changes affecting how previously collected information is used will be communicated directly where required by law.
